Academic System

Dela Paz Sur Elementary School has started following the K-12 system after the passage of its law in 2012. This is in line with the Department of Education’s initiative to improve the quality of basic education in the Philippines through the increase of basic education year levels and the balancing of student training between academics, life skills and human values.

Currently, we place emphasis on the following areas similar to all schools within the Division of San Fernando:

  • Language
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Values
  • Life skills
  • Love of country
  • Service to fellow men

The Department of Education and our own school view these areas as the most critical in the development of any Filipino student. With ample exposure to all of these areas, we are confident that our students will develop into globally competitive learners.

GRADING SYSTEM:

Dela Paz Sur Elementary School measures the and assesses each child’s level of learning through various metrics and performance appraisals. Similar to all state-run primary education institutions, we make use of written examinations, quizzes, recitation and project-based assessment methods to quantify each child’s progress. These performance assessments are then weighted and grades are calculated at the end of each quarter. By the end of the school year, a general average is determined in order to see if the child is eligible for promotion to the next grade level.

SELECTION OF HONORS

Dela Paz Sur Elementary School recognizes exemplary academic achievements from its students in every level each year. Awards are given to pupils who attain the following grade average ranges at the completion of each academic level:

  • 98-100 – With Highest Honors
  • 95-97 – With High Honors
  • 90-94 – With Honors

Students who excel in individual subjects and extra-curricular activities are also given appropriate awards at the end of each school year.

CO-CURRICULAR AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR PROGRAMS

Dela Paz Elementary School supports the participation of its students in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. We recognize that sports,. Performing arts, visual arts, music and other non-academic areas of learning are also highly valuable elements in the development of every pupil.

Since the signing and enactment of Republic Act Republic Act No. 10533 (also known as the K-12 Law), Philippine public schools have been preparing to transition to the new academic system. Today, Dela Paz Norte Elementary School is able to implement this system and provide our students with enhanced learning opportunities with emphasis on the following areas:

  • Languages
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Values
  • Life skills
  • Love of country
  • Service to fellow men

With the combination of proper teaching practices, resources, opportunities and character-building, students from Telabastagan Integrated School stand a much better chance of succeeding later on in life. Therefore, teachers and school administrators actively collaborate with parents and the local community to ensure the holistic development of our student body.

GRADING SYSTEM:

To properly evaluate the progress and development of each student, Dela Paz Norte Elementary School makes use of performance tests and written examinations. These are exercises that are designed to quantify the learning of a student, allowing both teachers and parents to identify areas of strengths as well as those where improvement is needed.

At the end of each quarter, report cards are issued to for the periodic monitoring of student performance. Grades are then averaged according to subject weight and tallied at the end of the school year.

CO-CURRICULAR AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR PROGRAMS

Other than academics, Dela Paz Norte Elementary School encourages and promotes extra and co-curricular activities.
